NitznGritz is a Canadian image design group born from a simple but powerful idea: Canada deserves its own bold, original voice in wearable art. We are a duo of passionate designers who share a love for this country — its landscapes, its culture, its characters, and its unmistakable spirit.
About five years ago, we looked around and noticed something missing. There were very few clothing creators truly celebrating Canada — not just slapping a maple leaf on a shirt, but crafting designs that felt genuinely Canadian in their soul. As proud Canadians, we knew we had to fill that gap ourselves.
So we got to work. We pooled our design skills, our love of Canadian identity, and our entrepreneurial drive to build NitznGritz.ca on Shopify. What started as a passion project quickly grew into something bigger — a brand that resonates with Canadians who want to wear their pride in a way that's fresh, creative, and one of a kind.
Our flagship image, JoeCanada, is the heart of the NitznGritz brand. JoeCanada is more than a mascot — he's a symbol of the everyday Canadian: proud, resilient, and full of character. We believed in this image so strongly that we took the step of trademarking it, protecting its uniqueness and elevating it to the iconic status it deserves. When you wear JoeCanada, you're wearing a piece of Canadian design history in the making.
Every design at NitznGritz starts with originality. We don't follow trends — we create them.
